Reiki Questions

My answers are based on insights from over 10 years of training and daily practice in the Traditional Japanese Usui Reiki System.

What is Reiki and how can it help me?

Reiki is a Japanese term for the interconnected life energy of the universe.

Reiki therapeutic sessions are scheduled periods of deep restorative rest for you while your certified and experienced Reiki Practitioner holds a safe space and focuses life energy.

Reiki care is a low touch modality that gently activates your inner healing response without manipulating your energy.

Reiki care supports your return to wellness in your own time and therefore compliments other health treatments you may be having.

Can Reiki help with anxiety?

Reiki care cannot legitimately claim to heal or cure specific mental or physical conditions for you.

Reiki care can help you to help yourself energetically rebalance in areas of stress release, improved sleep, building immunity, pain management and recovery from illness and injury.

Reiki Practitioners are not qualified to counsel, diagnose illness or prescribe medication.

What happens in a Reiki session?

What do I wear for Reiki session?

Reiki therapeutic sessions take place in a quiet room with you lying fully clothed in comfortable bedding on a treatment table.

Your certified and experienced Reiki Practitioner will hold a safe space for you to rest deeply.  Sleep commonly happens.

You will be gently awakened by your Practitioner at the scheduled end of your session.

What does my Reiki Practitioner do during my session?

Does Reiki involve massage?

Outside of sessions, the certified and experienced Reiki Practitioner values and maintains a daily self practice with the Usui Reiki System which over time optimizes their mental focus, clarity, compassion, connection and quality of life energy for sharing Reiki.

It is your well practised Reiki Practitioner's energized presence, combined with her practical experience in the time-honoured techniques of the Usui Reiki System that contribute to the quality of your Reiki session.

While you are deeply resting your Reiki Practitioner will slowly move around your body holding her hands above or resting lightly on safe areas of your energetic body for several minutes each as needed.

There is no body massage involved in Usui Reiki System.

How many sessions of Reiki do I need?

Human energy dynamics are not identical in each Reiki session.

Willingness to surrender to deep rest can differ depending on life circumstances and the day.

The cumulative therapeutic benefits of each Reiki session cannot be predicted ahead of time.

Your certified and experienced Reiki Practitioner cannot legitimately advise you about how many Reiki sessions will be needed to help you help yourself to return to the degree of wellness that you choose and are capable of at this time.

Choose a Reiki Practitioner who supports you compassionately and non conditionally for as much cumulative Reiki care as your own inner body wisdom guides you to have.

Reiki care is gentle, supports wellness and has no side effects, so however many regular or periodic sessions that you choose to make time for and invest in will be of benefit to your whole person.

Is Reiki regulated in Canada?

The Canadian Government does not yet regulate Reiki Practitioners who charge for their services.

For Reiki training, choose a Certified Usui Reiki Teacher who :

The Canadian Reiki Association maintains high standards of practice and codes of conduct for its professional membership which respects the Usui Reiki System and protects the public.
